This year marks 30 years since DKY’s founding in 1994. To mark the occasion, we’re curating and sharing the DKY #Throwback30 Collection – examples of vintage content good enough, funny enough, or memorable enough for another turn in the spotlight.
“Thirty is a really amazing milestone for us that prompts both nostalgia and anticipation for what comes next,” says DKY President Brian Dahl.
“On the one hand, you’re scratching your head asking, ‘Where did my 20s go?’. On the other hand, you can’t help but wonder, ‘What will I look like when I turn 40?”
Reminiscing with colleagues about past projects prompted Creative Director Mike Dobies to start scouring the archives – from hard drives to the DKY storage unit just a stone’s throw from the office – to see what else he might find.
“We’ve done a lot of projects over the years. And it was a real treat to rediscover some of the work we did back before the days of smartphones,” he says.
After reviewing dozens of past projects, the team settled on a select few worthy of sharing once again in what became known as as the DKY #Throwback30 Collection.
“This became an authentic and fun way for us to celebrate 30 years – inviting our staff, customers, and followers to take a walk down memory lane together with us,” says Dahl.
Plans call for a new example of old work to be published and shared on DKY channels every Thursday through August. The first #Throwback30 installment, published June 13th, features the Cargill IncredaBowl from 2014.
“We hope our social media followers look forward to Thursdays for the rest of the summer,” says Dobies.
